

The lever safety is present and functions properly. Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good-plus condition. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. There are some scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches, most notable are tool marks around the front sight base on the base and the barrel. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition as partially refinished and/or replaced.īore Condition: The bore is bright and the micro-groove rifling is sharp. The plate has light wear, mostly at the heel, with well defind checkering and lettering. The LOP measures 13 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The finish of the forend and buttstock do not match. There is a small loss at the heel and another smaller loss at the top-rear corner on the right of the forend. There are some scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches, mostly in the forend. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth wood with a straight grip, straight comb, checkered black hard rubber Marlin buttplate, and Marlin “bullseye” in the belly.

The top tang is drilled tapped and filled for a tang sight. The left of the receiver has a pair of drilled, tapped and filled holes for a receiver sight. The rear sight has a threaded aperture adjustable for windage in a dovetailed base which is itself mounted to a ramped base, allowing for elevation adjustment.

The top of the receiver has four drilled and tapped holes, the rear pair has filled screws, the front has a Williams sight installed. The rear of the barrel has a dovetail with a blank installed. The front sight is a blade with a red fiber-optic bead, dovetailed to a serrated, ramped base screwed to the front of the barrel. Sights / Optics: The original front sight dovetail has been filled with a blank. The top tang is marked with the serial number. 1894 – CARBINE – MICRO-GROOVE – CAL.357 MAGNUM” and is also marked with the “JM” proof.
